Training: Completion of a board-approved initial lead abatement supervisor training course is mandatory. This course must be at least 32 hours long, including a minimum of eight hours of hands-on training. The curriculum covers topics like lead health effects, regulations, liability issues, occupant protection plans, and abatement procedures. ​

Examination: After training, applicants must pass a board-approved licensing examination within 36 months. The exam consists of 50 questions, with a passing score of 70%, and covers areas such as lead toxicology, worker protection, abatement procedures, and waste disposal. ​

Application Process: Candidates must submit an application to DPOR, including proof of training and experience.
